Reaching the Milestones

Milestones really make a difference!

I can remember the day that I reached the 6 week mark, and thought to myself  "finally half way through the first trimester". Although finding out you are pregnant early has it's advantages, it makes things seem to go by a whole lot slower!

That six week mark seems like it was so long ago, yet I sit here tonight at 10 weeks, one day just four short weeks later celebrating huge milestones!
-1.5 more weeks until the first ultrasound
-1.5 to 2 more weeks until we reveal the news to friends/family back home, depending on schedules
-3 more weeks until we are out of the first trimester and beginning the second trimester

The biggest news of all: I went over to a friend's house tonight and we got a heartbeat on her doppler! Words cannot describe the joy and relief that comes with hearing that heartbeat for the first time. Many websites and resources with information on miscarriages say that the chances of miscarriage after hearing a heartbeat after 8 weeks drops to 3-4% (a statistic I can handle).

So, what is Baby LaClair up to this week? Well, baby has graduated from embryo to fetus and measures at over an inch and a half long! Baby now has fingers and toes and may start kicking by the end of the week (although it is still to early for me to feel him/her).

See the photo below for an idea of how he/she looks. Can't wait to post further updates/milestones!
